The International Automotive Task Force (IATF) announced it has decided to adopt remote auditing for organizations/sites that are evidently and directly impacted by COVID-19 restrictions.
IATF announced the news on its website on October 19, stating that IATF is “constantly reviewing the impact of the coronavirus on the IATF 16949 certification scheme and on the automotive industry supply chain. The IATF leadership has been discussing the recent surge in the number of COVID-19 cases around the world. Our priority is the safety, and well-being of everyone involved in the IATF 16949 scheme.”
The announcement represents a change in direction for the IATF-recognized certification bodies and certified organizations.
The IATF is finalizing the requirements for remote auditing and updates will be communicated in the IATF Waivers and Measure Response to COVID-19 in revision 5. Revision 5 is expected to be released by the end of October.
